Corrugated plastic returnable containers and packaging are commonly used in the automotive, appliance, medical, and food industries among others. The boxes are assembled from folded corrugated plastic sheets ranging in thickness from 2 mm to 8 mm. Once folded, the meeting corners must be joined; typically by ultrasonic welding.

A traditional tabletop ultrasonic welder is not able to weld corrugated plastic containers. Thus, AMS designed the A-Frame Box Welder. By suspending the ultrasonic welder's actuator out and over a cantilvered thin profile anvil, the AMS A-Frame Box Welder makes it possible to ultrasonically weld the plastic package's joints.

Notable features of the A-Frame Box Welder include:

  • Vertical adjustment of the ultrasonic welder's actuator via an installed jack. This jack also prevents the actuator from "crashing" down the column during adjustment.
  • Placement of the ultrasonic welder's power supply/ controller at eye level. Additionally, the power supply/ controller is secured so that the entire A-Frame Box Welder can be transported via the forklift tubes.
  • Capable of welding corrugated plastic for a wide range of applications including containers, boxes, packaging, lampshades, rope splices, and tube closures.
  • Ultrasonic weld cycle can be foot switch activated or palm button activated.
  • Interchangeable anvils make it possible to weld single or multi tip applications.
