Plastic tubes are used in the cosmetic, consumer, medical, and food industries among others. Sealing of the tube end is required after product fill. Ultrasonic sealing technology is an excellent method of sealing the tube end.
AMS designed a table top tube sealer to meet the needs of customers needing to quickly seal a variety of tubes in a research lab environment. The small footprint allows for easy integration in a lab setting. The adjustable anvil and tray height provide on-the-fly adjustment for sealing different height tubes.
The modular actuator design also allows for integration in custom configurations or automation. Ultrasonic sealing systems allow for dramatically easier tube changeover than traditional hot air or thermal systems. Unlike thermal tube sealing, crown or wave tube seals are possible.
Advantages of using ultrasonic sealing technology for tube sealing include:
AMS tube sealers are controlled via a touch screen controller for easy setup by operators with minimal training required. Ergonomic base design allows for movement of unit among different locations. Requires only electric power and compressed air.
Customers are encouraged to submit tubes to be sealed for free quality and strength evaluation. Please contact AMS to learn more about our ultrasonic plastic tube sealer.
Demonstration Videos
1. This video shows a laminate toothpaste tube being ultrasonically sealed in the TS 35-1.2 Ultrasonic Plastic Tube Sealer. Most types of product contamination in the seal zone does not affect the cycle time or quality of the seal.
2. How does ultrasonic sealing work? An ultrasonic tool vibrates at high frequency (15,000 to 60,000 Hz). This high frequency vibration is applied to thermoplastic material to create friction (heat), molten plastic, and finally a permanent bond. The process is fast, virtually silent, and energy efficient. For tube sealing, this high frequency scrubbing action also disperses product contamination in the tube's seal zone. This video demonstrates the powerful scrubbing action. Water is placed on the horn. Ultrasonics is briefly activated and the water is immediately dispersed and propelled from the horn.
